What Is Truth?
Dec 25, 2024
Welcome Brothers to my Truth Seekers blog.
If you’ve found your way here, it’s likely because you’re a truth seeker.
You might be wondering, What exactly is a truth seeker?
Truth seekers are analytical, persistent, and deeply curious. They crave understanding—not just of the world around them, but of themselves, their relationships, their beliefs, and their purpose in life.
Truth seekers don’t claim to have all the answers, but they boldly question the ones they’ve been given. They challenge the teachings of religious doctrines, the words of pastors and teachers, the advice of doctors, and the wisdom of intellectuals on subjects like life, health, relationships, and spirituality.
Often, the more answers they uncover, the more questions they find themselves asking.
Throughout history, people from all walks of life have wrestled with profound questions that still leave us searching today:
Who am I?
Why am I here?
What is my purpose?
Does God exist?
Why does pain and suffering exist in the world?
Is the truth found in evolution, creation, or nothingness?
At some point in our lives, we’ve all faced these difficult questions. Sometimes, we ask them for ourselves; other times, we try to answer them for someone we care about. Questions like:
Why is this happening to me?
Why can’t I stop self-sabotaging?
Why does God feel so distant right now?
These questions can leave us feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, and paralyzed in our search for clarity and direction. So we wonder:
Are there real answers out there?
And if so, where are they—and how do we find them?
I don’t claim to have all the answers. I’m not a scholar, a professor, or a therapist. I’m just a man like you—someone who has felt confused, exhausted, and desperate for truth and meaning in his life.
But here’s what I’ve come to believe about truth:
The truth we seek isn’t found in intellectual concepts or carefully constructed philosophies. We spend much of our lives trying to piece together meaning from ideas, opinions, and teachings, hoping they’ll provide clarity.
Yet the truth we’re searching for isn’t something we can manipulate, shape, or tear down. It’s not a system of thought we can build up or destroy.
Truth is constant. It doesn’t change. It simply is.
And deep down, I believe the truth resonates with something within us. There are moments in life—often rare but undeniable—when we feel an unshakable certainty. A resonance that says, This is true.
The Question of Truth
Let me share a story.
Over 2,000 years ago, a man named Pontius Pilate served as the Roman governor of Judea. During his tenure, a man named Jesus was brought before him on charges that threatened the political and religious order of the day.
During their exchange, Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the King of the Jews?”
Jesus replied, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose, I was born, and for this purpose, I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears my voice.”
Pilate then asked a profound and timeless question: “What is truth?”
It’s a question we’re still asking today.
If we’re serious about finding truth, we must first ask ourselves:
Do I really want to know the truth?
What if the truth challenges everything I’ve believed?
What if I’ve been wrong?
These are difficult questions to face. No one likes to admit they might be wrong—especially about their beliefs, philosophies, or doctrines. We cling to being “right” because it makes us feel safe and secure in a world full of fear and uncertainty.
But have you ever stopped to ask yourself: What if I’m wrong?
I’ve asked myself that question many times—especially when life felt unjust or when I couldn’t understand the pain I was experiencing. Those moments of frustration and resentment drove me to search for answers, believing the truth had to be out there somewhere.
The Purpose of my private face book group called Awakening Truth and my Truth Seekers blog is simple: to explore the difficult questions of life, relationships, and spirituality so we can awaken to the truth of who we are and why we’re here.
My hope is that together, we can learn to live a life with more clarity, purpose and meaning.
I believe that as we seek truth together, we’ll begin to:
Pull off the masks of false identity.
Recognize the illusions we’ve been living in.
Awaken to the truth that sets us free.
This isn’t about finding all the answers in one day. It’s about embarking on a journey—a journey toward clarity, direction, and freedom.
So, brother, let’s walk this path together. Let’s pursue the truth, wherever it may lead us.
Much love,
Stacy
